Original artwork description:

Over the last two months life has changed considerably. With roads quieter and everyone at home suddenly birdsong seems to be everywhere. My studio is in the garden with bird-feeders outside the windows. I thought I would fill my lockdown by painting my companions in isolation. There is a great comfort in nature continuing oblivious to these strange times, busts of colour and life.

“The robin flew from his swinging spray of ivy on to the top of the wall and he opened his beak and sang a loud, lovely trill, merely to show off. Nothing in the world is quite as adorably lovely as a robin when he shows off - and they are nearly always doing it.”
― Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

I've always think back to the Secret Garden when I see a robin. They are such bold wonderful birds that I forget how little they are. I could paint them again and again. This is one of a series of robin paintings so please pop into my shop to see the other ones available.

Artwork comes framed in either a 75mm Bronze floral embossed (high pattern) wooden mold, or a light grey wooden frame, both ready to hang without glass. Oil paintings stay healthiest with air flow over the canvas surface, it also allows you to see the texture of the paint without reflection.

Materials used:

oil painting, canvas board
