Original artwork description:

Jane's original painting 'Red Riding Hood' alludes to the traditional fairy tale by Brothers Grimm, in which a predatory wolf eats Red Riding Hood. Fairy tales shape our values and beliefs, teach us important life lessons, and help us to cope with difficult emotions. This cautionary tale warns young girls to beware of strangers, and has sexual connotations.
To create the painting, Jane appropriated a cover picture of a frightened woman from a pulp magazine of the 1950s and put her against the background of a wolf howling at the moon.
Jane is a well-known Brisbane artist who has been finalist for art prizes and also exhibited at various Brisbane and Gold Coast galleries. Her paintings are held in private collections worldwide.
