Original artwork description:

Scenes with water are such a compelling subject for an artist.
In the Chilterns (the Chilterns are an outstanding area of natural beauty just to the north of London for those not familiar with the area) we have small chalk streams, and of course to the south the River Thames.
Additionally, and especially near where I live and work there are various elements of the canal network.
The main north south connecting canal (the Grand Union) runs through Berkhamsted and Tring, and there are side shoots (arms)
which run off the main canal to connect to local industry. Also there are several top up reservoirs.
This painting is of a narrow boat on the Grand Union at Berkhamsted.
I wanted above all to achieve the feeling of water and tried to do this by getting the reflection right.
I follow various artists who can create water with what seems like a single brush stroke, but for me I have to think about it more.
I also wanted to get some small colour variations as if there is a slight mist on the water. Pleased with the end result.
