Original artwork description:

I was born in a small town in California on the Colorado River. We still have family there and I visited a few times as a child. I painted this without thinking of the correlation until I came across an old photo. The resemblance was uncanny. Coincidence? The more I look and think, the more I think no.

The texture was created with acrylic medium and tissue paper. A gloss varnish has been applied after the photos were taken to reduce glare in the image.
