The 5th in my series of Dorset linocut landscapes celebrates the Airshow which happens in Bournemouth each summer. The Red Arrows are a real highlight of the Airshow and I've tried to capture their beauty with a backdrop of the beautiful Dorset coastline. With little beach huts, the fairground on the pier and Old Harry in the distance I hope this print sums up the summer in Bournemouth.
I used a double reduction technique for this print, using 2 lino blocks and reducing each one to create additional colours with the overlap and overlay.
Each print is signed and editioned in pencil along the bottom. This linocut was an edition of just 30 prints. This listing is for one of the handful of artist’s proofs which I have remaining.
This print is a perfect fit for a 40 x 50cm frame when mounted.
Sold unframed to reduce postage costs.
The tradition of linocut is a relief printing method in which pieces of lino are cut away using special carving tools to create a design. The lino block is then inked up using a roller, and printed onto paper either by hand or using a traditional printing press. It's an entirely manual process, so some slight differences in the prints are to be expected. Each of these prints is the result of two separate blocks being carefully carved, printed and carved and printed again, each new colour after the previous layer has had several days to dry.
N.B There are just a few Artist's proofs available from this short run of prints now!
