Original artwork description:

Holkam Beach on the North Norfolk coast is a vast flat expanse of sand surrounded by sand dunes and pine forest along its length. Even with its many visitors it can seem quite empty. As the tide went out it left large areas of wet sand that reflect the open sky with the sun breaking through behind the cloud and it was this that attracted me to make this painting. We walked along much of it and encountered many dog walkers and a couple of horse riders cantering along.
(Please note that the actual size of the painted board is 30.3 x 25.6cm)

Materials used:

Windsor & Newton Artisan oil paint; Cerulean, Titanium White, Yellow Ochre, Alizarin Crimson
