Limited Edition colour linocut of a pair of ravens beneath the cliffs in Hastings, East Sussex.
This is a large linocut made using several carved blocks of lino, one for each colour. The ink is transferred to the paper by rubbing the back with a baren and a wooden spoon. (Takes a while!).
This is an edition of 50, and, as always with linocuts, each print will vary slightly since they are produced by hand. Each print is numbered, titled and signed on the front by me, the artist.
I see or hear ravens quite frequently in Hastings Country Park, which starts above the cliffs at the eastern end of the town. The beach at this end of the town is called Rock-a-Nore, and is home to most of the local beach-launched fishing boats.
This linocut is inspired by a time I saw a raven flying above the cliffs near the yacht club and the funicular railway. You can also see some of Hastings' iconic black net huts at the base of the cliffs.
The linocut is 39cm wide and 28cm high (roughly A3 - so fairly large), printed in oil-based inks on acid free paper and comes with a mount, backing board and cellophane wrap. The mount brings the overall size to 50cm by 40cm - which is a common size and easy to frame.
For international orders, the artwork will be rolled with acid-free tissue paper and delivered in a tube without a mount.
