An oil on canvas painting inspired by the wild landscapes of Somerset. In particular the Rosebay Willow Herb that grows along the hedgerows in abundance over the summer.
This is an abstract impressionistic style of painting. I wanted to paint light against dark and texture against smooth to reflect the movement of the foliage and wildflowers in the breeze.
This was painted in my studio after spending time sketching 'plein air' on the moor and beside the River Exe.
