The rat is eating red bubbles. She collects the shards of the destroyed and creates a new life. Life goes on.
From my Shards series. The paintings of the series are intended to create the impression of a frozen moment in anticipation of destruction, a certain post-apocalyptic world, to cause conflicting feelings of peace and anxiety.
I use translucent beads on oil paintings because I’m interested in going beyond the boundaries of the canvas and explore the play of light and shadow on the painting when adding additional objects.
All the paintings of this series are connected to each other and create a story. The beads are references to the red bubbles and cranberries from the painting Do not shoot, fragments of deer-girl's world.
Oil on canvas, beads.
Transparent beads are sewn to the canvas.
The painting looks different depending on the lighting. You can see this in additional photos.
