The work was part of the total kinetic-sound installation 'Nature Symphony', shown at Møstings Hus, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2022. It is a unique experimental piece, equipped with thousands of polypropylene pellets (free to fall inside) and an AC motor.
When the work is turned on, the main disc spins slowly and produces meditative sounds that mimic heavy rain or waterfalls. However, even when not in motion, the work can be appreciated as a fine piece of craftmanship and engineering on wood, metal, and plexiglass.
About 'Nature Symphony': "The solo exhibition Nature Symphony was a total installation triggered by mechanical sound sculptures that create an unpredictable soundscape of movements of wind, water, plants, etc. through Møstings’ high-ceilinged rooms. Koutsouris has been inspired by the movements and sounds of nature, and with this exhibition, he examines human’s relationship with nature by questioning our increasing need for control in an otherwise uncontrollable world."
PLEASE NOTE: A wooden crate has to be assembled for this work, therefore allow about 2 weeks for shipping.
Birch plywood, acrylic glass, stainless-steel fasteners, steel rope, light bulb.
