Roy Lichtenstein, one of my biggest art inspirations, didn't just paint the comic strips he was famous for. He also painted many everyday objects throughout his career, from food to art materials themselves.

Like most artists I'm a bit obsessed with stationery and materials and I own way more than I'll ever use. With this in mind I've created this charming and colourful A3 original painting. It shows a paint roller painting an precise colour spectrum line at three sharp angles. The colour is based on the classic rainbow image by Gilbert Baker, the California-based artist who advocated gay rights.

The end result is an incredibly bright and vivid image that would brighten up any room in the house.

It is painted in acrylics on thick high quality A3 paper. PLEASE NOTE: the painting doesn't come framed, but I've taken photos of it framed for display purposes.

I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, and Patrick Caulfield, but also by modern graphic designers.
