The final painting in the TdF 2014 series from images in Yorkshire, London and France. You may have seen the cyclists racing - whatever the weather the riders are out there. It's a nervy time for the teams, and concentration levels are high. Speed is not affected. They hurtle along. Wet jackets the same as the normal team vest - pulled on, zipped up. The rain making the surrounding London City buildings misty and fading into the background. It's about the riders, it's about the weather, it's about the cityscape being changed by the Tour passing through.
This painting was created using layer upon layer of acrylic paint with glaze medium to ensure that the painting changes in different lights throughout the day. This adds to the feeling of movement.
The canvas is 1.5cm deep. Sitting in an ivory stained case frame. The photographs show that there is 3 mm between the painted canvas edge and the frame all round, the signature on the work, and how the painting alters depending on light direction and strength.
