While plein air painting on Balboa Island, I found myself accompanied by a Blue Heron. According to a local boat owner passing by, this bird is a true survivor. It got tangled in a fishing hook, and even now, with the line still trailing from its foot, it refuses assistance. Remarkably, it continues to navigate its surroundings with apparent ease.
