Following on from my paper cut and shaped butterflies, I've been experimenting making them in polymer clay, using the terrazzo technique, and then coating them in resin.

The Terrazzo technique uses chips of different coloured polymer clay added to another colour and then rolled into flat sheets.

Depending on where the light comes from shadows are created from the upturned butterfly wings.

As with all my pieces they can be created with any choice of colours so do please message me if you would like to discuss a commission.

Polymer clay, gold leaf, resin, and heavy watercolour paper in a deep box frame glazed with glass
