Following on from my paper cut and shaped butterflies, I've been experimenting making them in polymer clay, using the Mokume Gane technique, and then coating them in resin.
Mokume-Gane is a decorative Japanese metal working technique, which originated from the 17th century when it was used to decorate samurai swords, and has been used with other materials such as polymer clay for many years now.
Depending on where the light comes from shadows are created from the upturned butterfly wings.
As with all my pieces they can be created with any choice of colour so do please message me if you would like to discuss a commission.
