Artwork description:

A dramatic maximalist style landscape picture of the mountains and wild scenery on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. This dramatic photograph is a long exposure and was captured in rain and wind, it gives you a real feel for this rugged landscape.

There are corners of the Isle of Skye less photographed, this is one of them, a wonderful little lochan behind the Cuillins near Sligachan. Having climbed through a bog to reach it I was lucky to catch this break in the clouds turning the water in the lochan to mercury before the rain coming from the mountains hit me. I love the colours in this image, they remind me of some of the old master paintings.

Printed at 48 x 32 inches with a 2 inches white border with the signature, title and edition number under the image for a total size of 52 x 36 inches. This is the perfect size for above a sofa and frames up beautifully.

I LOVE printing on beautiful papers. I have spent years trying and testing papers until I found paper that is just exquisite and works perfectly with my artworsk. Your beautiful print will be printed here in my studio on Skye on beautiful thick fine art Canson Aquarelle paper which has a wonderful watercolour texture. This brings out the fabulous texture of the landscape in my work.

About My Materials
People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use. Arches-Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper for over 450 years in France. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI, their paper was used by Voltaire and Napoleon and the Montgolfier brothers used Canson paper to make the first hot air balloon.

This paper was used by Picasso, Ingres, Chagal, Miro and many other artists. They have been making paper and canvas for photography since this art began over 150 years ago. People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use.

Materials used:

Exquisite Aquarelle Fine Art Paper and Non fade Inks
