Before I write the story of this painting, I want to note that it was painted on a McDonald's food bag.
This graphic work was inspired by the events of June 1 in our city. It was on June 1, 2023, that McDonald's was opened for the first time after the full-scale invasion, because our city is near the frontline and was too close to the fighting. Now our city is also considered frontline, but not so close. So on June 1, there was a huge queue at McDonald's, even police patrolled around the neighborhood to ensure safety among the civilian population and to control traffic at the roundabout.
The concept of the painting is that this queue seems to be endless like a human life circle, people are drawn with a black marker, they come out of the bag, stand in line and go back into the bag again, and so on in a circle, it's like a Sansara of sorts. Because people always want to eat, so it's an endless cycle.
When my friends and I arrived at McDonald's, it was around June 7, the line was still long, the excitement had subsided a bit, but people were still standing in a long line to try the cheeseburger or the Big Mac menu. This inspired me to draw a sketch with people on a McDonald's paper bag in my style of figurative art.
Figurative Art - I like to draw people in their habitat, this is a city, street scenes, intersections, cafes. In my watercolor paintings, I show how a person depends on the social environment and develops it.
