This is my third Ink portrait of Australian Jordan Thompson, drawn whilst watching him play tennis live on a bright sunny at the Queen’s Club in London. Here he is waiting to return serve against Holger Rune.
I enjoy trying to capture the players whilst they are serving and returning as they will repeat certain movements and poses. As these movements only last for a few seconds I will concurrently work on multiple drawings during a match switching between them as the games progress and players serve and return. Starting from rough line drawings of basic shapes the details will be built up throughout the match. The bright weather helped to cast some interesting shadows on this day.
