This Ink portrait of Australian Jordan Thompson was drawn whilst watching him play tennis live on a bright sunny at the Queen’s Club in London. Here he is serving against Holger Rune. The bright weather helped to cast some interesting shadows on this day. I enjoy trying to capture the players whilst they are serving and returning as they will repeat certain movements and poses. As these movements only last for a few seconds I will concurrently work on multiple drawings during a match switching between them as the games progress and players serve and return. Starting from rough line drawings of basic shapes the details will be built up throughout the match.
