The idea for this painting was born in the spring when the entire avenue next to my house was blanketed in white cherry blossoms. It portrays the queen of the cherry orchard, a figure who appears somewhat melancholic, exuding both beauty and a hint of an underlying, almost bloodthirsty quality. Perhaps she is weary of her responsibilities and yearns for liberation.
Recently, I came across the word "liberosis," and I felt it perfectly encapsulated the mood of this painting. Liberosis is the desire to be free from the burdens, pressures, and constraints of adulthood. It's an emotion experienced by those who long to return to the carefree days of childhood, unburdened by the complexities of daily life and worries about the future.
The term "liberosis" was first coined in 2006 by John Koenig in his "Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows," where he invents and defines neologisms for emotions that lack precise descriptive terms.
