Original artwork description:

This is one of a series of three “Pushing” self portraits that are “an ode to skateboarding“ or a way of trying to show my love and appreciation for the sport/art form/way of life.
They are based on three photos of myself pushing that my skater/ photographer friend Neil Wade took of me.
Although based on three separate photos and made as individual pictures, now finished I feel they can almost create a sequence when put together, a nice unintended bonus!
I like to experiment and use many different mediums to create pictures to see the different qualities they can bring. I have made a few mixed-media pieces inspired by travels to Australia, and these are evolutions of ideas and what I learnt from them. These three mixed-media collage pieces were made by initially drawing out the figures in Ink and then choosing different angles for the background spiral collages around them.
I wanted to try using these spiral collages to see if they give different feelings and depth to the pictures. I have always collected stickers, leaflets and paraphernalia from things that interest me or are connected to me. I have been doing this for a long time with the idea that I would use them for mixed-media self portraits at some point as they are personally connected to my life and might add further layers or background aesthetics to the works.
Since I first started to skate it has been a huge influence on my life in so many ways that I cannot even count them anymore!
It opened my eyes to new cultures and ways of looking at and utilising my surroundings, and also gave me a desire to travel to find new places and challenges.
It has taught and continues to teach me the importance of practicing and commitment to reach your goals. It has allowed me meet and make life long friends all over the world.
I truly feel I will never stop skateboarding, even though I can’t jump or do as many tricks as before, the feeling of pushing, rolling, carving and challenging myself is the best form of meditation and stress release that I have found!
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver worldwide at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
