This drawing is an original colored pencil drawing titled “Purple Orchid”. This handmade original drawing has an illustrative vibrant realistic style of an orchid in a closeup view. This colored pencil drawing was created after I purchased one of many orchids, this one in particular, on Mother's Day. I love orchids and find them to be very delicate but interesting and almost appearing aggressive. They remind me somewhat of an insect ready to strike. The vibrancy of color in this photograph and the closeup view of this orchid was very interesting to me as well as the color combination of purples and a splash of yellow. I like to use very vibrant colors in my art with alot of texture. Each painting and drawing takes me many hours from start to finish to execute the level of detail and show the delicate textures in my work. I used waxed based colored pencils on a toned grey Strathmore mixed media paper.
