Original artwork description:

This original acrylic painting titled "Protecting Isabella", is inspired by my awareness of the current endangered status of the giraffe; a peaceful, iconic, wonderfully strange and beautiful animal. It's size is 18" x 24" and it's done on heavy weight watercolour paper. The colour palette is composed of burnt and raw sienna, ultramarine blue, two yellows, crimson, white and red, all paints are non-toxic as I continue to improve the eco-friendly practices in my studio.

The stripes behind the giraffe are in yellow, white and pearlescent pink which would sweetly complement a children's room decor and be a source of education. I chose those colours to reflect the vulnerability of the giraffe's existence, we think them to be strong and wild, yet, because of human encroachment which equates with loss of habitat and poaching/trophy hunting, they have become very vulnerable indeed. If we don't protect our wild spaces and wild life, we will lose them forever.

Some of the proceeds of the sale of this artwork will go to the Humane Society International and the African Wildlife Foundation which works to protect the West African Giraffe by utilizing guides to monitor them (guides use motorbikes to find and follow giraffes. Using Global Positioning System (GPS) units and cameras, the guides identify and follow a giraffe daily, noting its coordinates and behavior at five-minute intervals ), reforestation of the trees that they feed from (giraffes are notoriously picky eaters), community conservation practices and much more.

NOTE: Painting will be rolled and placed in a wide mailing tube. Shipping in a tube is being done to reduce shipping costs which have gone through the roof!
