I love contrasting combinations in a still life. And here, orange oranges and a juicy red-yellow apple are side by side with blue silk drapery. But this contrast does not seem bing through the eyes, as between these colours neatly wedged grey shades of jug and plates.
A small songbird wagtail is just a figment of my imagination. In our area, this bird is not so often seen. But it so enlivens this picture! Is not it?
