The art is the picture plane, the form evolves out of the conjunction and amalgamation of the visual elements, the only western comparison I can make is to Rothko and Barnett Newman or Pollock, although here our perception is not lost in a void, a vacuum or a silence, or the natural world rather it is the noise and distortions of the cosmos.

We are encouraged to enter these spaces and test our perception by engaging with the picture plane, to form a dialogue, to create lines and shapes, and conversely, to add our noise to that of the work.

There is an attempt to make the viewer determine the content of the work, Yehan gives us colours and paint, tactile and visual qualities that we can relate to. But he requires us, the viewers, to be confident in our response; and if we blink, we will have missed the opportunity altogether. To look hard at a Yehan Wang painting requires total commitment, total concentration
