There are special places on earth where strange things happen. On special nights, when fog rises above the swamps, moonlight conjures up magical visions. Among the kingdom of white water lilies a virgin wanders, white as a ghost, not drowning in a quagmire, weaves moonlight and sings in vain. Only swamp owls are witnesses of her ritual when she appears either from the water or from the gates that swirl among the trunks of old willows. Moisture is everywhere, the pale beauty of the swamps evokes fear and reverence for the secrets they keep
