This painting shows you the city of Kryvyi Rih in the 1960s. It was created on the basis of a black and white photo from the same period, which I recreated in color based on other photos in color from those years to better convey the atmosphere of that time.
It is an interesting historical image that gives you a chance to dive into the past and see how the city looked like in the 1960s.
This painting from a photo has historical content and is important for preserving cultural heritage. They provide an opportunity to see how people lived in the past, what buildings and structures existed, and what cultural and social customs were common.
A tourist coming to Kryvyi Rih in the first half of the 20th century would have been better off walking around the city. In summer, Kryvyi Rih welcomed the guests of the city with green parks and squares, of which there were more than 150. In winter - snow-covered streets. Clean streets with lonely cars made it possible to see the architecture of the city and visit local attractions and ride local buses, trolleybuses and trams.
On Postal Avenue (former Karl Marx Avenue), between Mira Square and St. Nicholas Street, a tourist could see many historical and memorable places and stop in front of the oldest post office, which is almost 200 years old. Nearby is the building that housed the county committee of the political party in 1919-1920. Opposite them, half a block is occupied by the building of the Kryvbasproekt Institute. At the corner of the next block there was a geological exploration trust, and further on - multi-storey residential buildings, hotels, institutions, shops, theaters.
I have not found the author of the black-and-white photograph from which I painted this picture, but if I find out his name and surname, I will definitely credit him.
