Original artwork description:

This is an oil painting I did a few years ago - its been is storage for some time.
I rediscovered it the other day at the back of a pile of old paintings in my studio.
Reminds me of the time when I always used to frame paintings and I also worked a lot in oils back then.
This was a style I was working on at the time- quite minimal, moody and with a limited palette. Stems probably from my time in Art School where I studied minimalist architecture for a while.

This is a framed oil painting (a rarity for me today) depicting Portree Bay on the Isle of Skye.
I created the picture as ever from a quick sketch at the scene and completed the painting in my studio. I have utilized blues and dark tones with a limited palette in an effort to convey the feeling of cold and solemnity which can be experienced on Skye especially during the winter months.
The painting is finished in two coats of protective varnish.
It is strung framed and ready to hang.
