I've always found the world of Pierrots and Harlequins intriguing, and a wonderful subject for painting. For this portrait of a Pierrette, I used fabric to represent the frilled collaret, which gives the painting a three dimensional quality.
It is painted on linen canvas. I love the look of natural unpainted linen canvas, and have made use of it here to act as a border for the painting.
