Original artwork description:

This is a portrait of an emanicipated American circa 1920. The image was created through using polystyrene plates and washable markers to create layers of printed colours to form the image.

I have hightened the image by using bright colours, using techniques of printing known as monoprinting, firstly using slightly dampened paper to pick up the ink, then registering to apply colour to the paper once it was dry, building layers of colour and over printing.

The image forms part fo my ongoing series of works exploring lost generations and the fragility of knowledge.

Mount frame in antique white textured mount.

Materials used:

Polystyrene plate, markers, printing paper
