I've painted a lot of ballerina's in their final poses, the moves polished and performed to perfection. I've painted this pose before but wanted to return to it as I love the contrast between the relaxed and the tense. The gold leaf is suggestive of the Renaissance paintings of icons, and creates a lovely contrast.

The painting is framed in a solidly made, 55 ml wide, frame painted in light grey. The painting is painted on canvas board and mounted on card, housed behind acrylic glass. Frame was professionally made to order by Frames Express.

What is Gold Leaf?
Gold leaf is gold that has been hammered into thin sheets by goldbeating and is often used for gilding. Gold leaf is available in a wide variety of karats and shades. The most commonly used gold is 22-karat yellow gold, the gold in this artwork is 24.
