This is by far my favourite painting, hands down. Arguably, the real protagonist of this portrait is the intricate embroidery that runs on the whole arm length. It has been as eye-killing as rewarding to paint. You might have noticed that I use my face a lot. Far from being vain (rather the opposite), I simply find it less complicated than explaining someone what expression I need. Moreover this particular model never complains if I paint her nose as crooked as it really is!
