Original artwork description:

Free blown murrini vessel.
Porifera and the fundamental interconnectedness of all things . Porifera, better known as marine sponges, are weirdly beautiful animals that are found from the
shallows to the abyss, gracing us with their beautiful forms and colours while playing a vital role in sustaining ocean ecosystems. This work is a celebration of them.
They are made in a two stage process. First glass canes are made and cut to create the murrini. These murrini are then, cleaned, arranged, heated, picked up on a blowing iron and free blown into their final form. The bottoms are ground and polished to finish. The process itself ensures that each piece made is unique.
