Original artwork description:

This piece captures the feeling of a spontaneous road trip through the Southern California sunshine with your bestie, heading to Lake Elsinore when the poppies are in full bloom. The upbeat and perky vibe is conveyed through a mix of media, including neopastels, oil bars, graphite, and acrylic paint in shades of blue-green, yellow ochre, and warm and cool grays, punctuated with pops of black. It can be hung in any direction and serves as a bright and uplifting addition to any home or office.

While reflecting on some unfinished pieces hanging around my studio, I wondered how to move them forward. Rather than stressing over the unresolved areas, I decided to take out my scissors and cut out the parts I really liked. Using my vintage Singer sewing machine, I sewed these pieces back together, resulting in a new collection of "Stitches". These paintings combine raw and gessoed canvas, stitched together to form eclectic, unexpected abstract compositions. Through this process I am exploring the theme of overcoming fears and embracing change, as I let go of completed works and rearrange them in unexpected ways.
