Original artwork description:

This print is a result of experimenting with methods of printmaking involving making monoprints and using stencils that I made from acetate. I have some poppy seed heads in my studio and decided that they would make a good subject for a print as they are such a great shape. After noticing that the serrated edge of a piece of paper torn from a pad made an interesting outline when accidentally printed, I made stencils by cutting out poppy seed head shapes with holes cut in where the seeds escape. I experimented with these shapes and used different transparent inks to achieve a variety of effects by laying the stencils onto an uncarved sheet of Lino and printing off it. This print was printed from the ink left on the plate after the stencils had been removed. The effect was partly accidental but very pleasing. I love it when happy accidents happen. I could recreate something similar but I could never reproduce this exact print so it is a unique artwork. This is why it is not numbered, just signed. It is printed on acid free cartridge paper.
