One of my figurative pieces, I really enjoyed painting this piece. The petals of the poppies have been painted with a red pigment in the resin, making them slightly translucent and delicate. The greenery is also painted with a coloured resin, and the various colours bleed into one another, giving an abstract element to the painting. Then a misty light adds a softness, which to me gives a nostalgic feeling. Poppies historically conjure up feelings of remembrance, so it’s a very inspirational and emotional subject for me to paint.
