I painted these stunning poppies in the botanical garden of Hohenheim University. I especially admired the luminous color of the flowers and a shimmering sunlighted grass with its emerald green shades. Bright Poppies with their form and color remind the fire flames and I tried to express this appearance through the painting effects. The color spots had made intentionally a bit flatly and the composition in the whole refers to a college technique: isolated color areas fragment an image space. White paper areas preserved here and there add an Airness and light to the painting that is highly necessary for watercolor.
