This is part of a series of Poppy paintings that I did in 2009. Each spring the fields in Greece are filled with beautiful red poppies and I had also discovered in Venice, Italy a small artisan shop that produces hand-made cotton paper for aquarelle painting. So it became a marriage between the two - Greek poppies and hand-made Italian cotton paper.
