This linocut print is the second in my series of views of Dorset. I've always loved cranes and docks and felt this subject was perfect to attempt an almost monochromatic grey scale piece. I love how well the subtle pale grey layer in the background came out in the finished artwork.
This is an original reduction linocut print printed onto somerset cartridge paper with oil based inks. Each of these prints is the result of a four stage reduction process, the block being carefully carved and printed, each new colour after the previous layer has had several days to dry.
Only 25 of these prints were made, you may not receive the exact print used in the photos.
The tradition of linocut is a relief printing method in which pieces of lino are cut away using special carving tools to create a design. The lino block is then inked up using a roller, and printed onto paper either by hand or using a traditional printing press. It's an entirely manual process, so some slight differences in the prints are to be expected.
Approx image size: 13" x 10" (32 x 25cm)
This print is a perfect fit for a 40 x 50cm frame when mounted.
