Original artwork description:

Polished Pistol - original acrylic gouache painting of an antique French Naval Percussion Pistol.

The gleaming curves of this highly polished pistol grabbed my attention. The ball of the handle with its shiny metal cap and the smoothed flanks and curved barrel were a sensuous feast for my eyes.

I wanted to express the superb craftsmanship of the gunsmith who made this centuries ago - the engraving on the side says Châtellerault - a town in France where a weapons factory was awarded a royal decree in 1819.

Please note that due to the nature of the medium the finish is very matte and chalky with a few smudges in the background.

Imagine if this was from a pair of duelling pistols and used on a crisp dawn in a wooded glade with a few friends gathered around to witness the cruel and cool savagery of a "gentleman's" duel.

This would be an interesting and intriguing piece for the gunlover or collector.

This is an original - painted by hand using professional quality Holbein acrylic gouache on 100% cotton rag Two Rivers 140lb paper - this paper has a glorious tooth to it and is made by hand one sheet at a time in Somersert, England.

Your painting will be carefully packed to make sure it reaches you in pristine condition.

I hope you decide to have this for your personal home gallery or for the gun aficionado in your life.

Thank you - Alison
