Original artwork description:

Plein air (painted on location) quick sketch. It was rather windy on Tomales Bay, just north of San Francisco, when I was painting this scene. I had to work really fast trying to catch the shapes and highlights of quickly moving clouds and constantly turning boats. I used big brushes, and applied thick layers of oil paint with bold brush strokes. As I do on many occasions, when painting on location, I resolved to scratch my signature into still wet paint.
