Original artwork description:

The subtle and sophisticated encaustic painting is dominated by a neutral grey, but there are numerous variations that add interesting details. Marks and striations, made by oil stick and wax chips that are then fused into interesting patterns, and that are sometimes revealed through scraping down and refusing. Touches of red, blue, aqua, lavender and copper make their way to the surface. This work would look especially wonderful on a grey, or plum colored wall, or grouped with a number of other works, any spot where close looking will reward the viewer with those at-first unsuspected detailed. This is framed in a simple silver canvas floater frame that adds one inch overall to the dimensions.

Materials used:

encaustic paint, powdered pigment, oil stick on cradled panel
