Set of three 4 x 6 inches original Linocut prints on a single archival Canson paper (paper size approx. 24 x 8 inches, 185 gsm)
Very limited edition of 9 prints.
Hand-drawn, hand-carved, hand-printed

THE STORY

Inspired by a recent trek to the Lidder valley (Lidderwat) in Kashmir, India, this set of three miniature linocut prints is an integral part of my memories of the valley. It represents the same camping spot at three different times of the day, when the play of light dramatically changes the look of the place, from early morning, to sunset, to a gloriously starry midnight. It struck me how nature plays with itself, assuming different appearances and transforming itself using its own elements -- almost like changing outfits celebrating the transitions in a day!

THE PROCESS

Hand-drawn, hand-carved, and hand-pulled, this work has been a long labour of patience, but also providing enough delight along the way to keep me going. Each of the three prints has undergone several layers of carving and printing using the reduction method. It is also the first time I experimented with using vignettes in my work.

Materials used:

Ink
