One of the many great things about living on the west side of the Big Island is that we get incredible sunsets throughout the year.

This small original, painted in the style that I am currently experimenting with, which focuses on abstracting the landscape. The sun sets behind the clouds in the distance, illuminating underneath them with vibrant pinks, soothing purples, and luminous golden yellows. I love the angular brushstrokes and how they glide across the canvas as I’m painting it. Smooth, fluid and filled with glistening butter like oil paint. Am I weird if I want to lick it?

Original Oil painting applied with brushes on wood and framed in Maple Wood. Painting measures 16" x 12" x 3/4". An archival varnish has been applied to accentuate the vibrancy of colors and help protect the original painting.
