A two panelled, semi-abstract, impressionistic oil painting of the English countryside. An artwork that has an atmosphere of calm.

This painting represents the cool, damp, mossy landscape found in Yorkshire. The sun is setting, silhouetting the rugged, Yorkshire fields and walls in the left hand canvas, contrasting with the sweeping fields, catching the sinking sun, on the right. Deep shadows are cast by the drystone wall, that lines the road leading into the distance, in the right hand canvas.

Both palette knife and brushwork have been used to create texture and depth in this artwork. The glowing sky, as the sun goes down, and the rich, deep greens re-create the atmosphere of this verdant, velvety landscape and hint at the fresh clean air of the countryside.

This diptych was conceived as a pair of paintings, to be displayed side by side, as photographed. However, the paintings could be hung with a gap between them, or at right angles to each other on a corner. It would be best to experiment!

Painted with Michael Harding Professional Artists oil colours, on two stretched cotton canvases. The edges are left clean and white. Each canvas is signed and dated on the back, and this artwork comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

These canvases will be carefully wrapped in tissue, bubble wrap and foam board, then packaged in a sturdy cardboard box. A tracking number will be provided.
