Pirouette is a turning movement in a classical ballet vocabulary. Once I have heard a famous prima-ballerina, in an interview, comparing the stage life of a dancer with a pirouette: "You spin, spin, spin, ... and then it's suddenly all over". I tried to reflect on that, in the hope the image would become more suggestive than a mere illustration of the three stages of, otherwise, an incredibly graceful movement
