Artwork description:

This print is based on a woodland full of gorgeous silver birches we cycled through in Scotland on holiday. It's titled 'Pioneers' as silver birches are a natural pioneer species, able to quickly colonise open land and enrich the soil for subsequent species.

This is an original reduction linocut print, using just one block of lino and a process of carving away the lino between each layer of colour to produce the final image. It is a limited variable print from an edition of 22, on UNICO Fabriano paper (250gsm) cream using Caligo safe wash inks.

The image size is 25cm x 35.5cm and the paper size is approx 35cm x 45cm which gives a generous margin to allow for framing.

My linocuts are handmade from start to finish - hand carved, inked and handprinted, and as such they will have small variations between prints - making each print into a unique artwork. All of my prints are flat packed if delivered within the UK, and will be sent packaged in tissue and a tube if delivered outside of the UK.
