‘Pink Lagoon’ is an original flamingo painting by British artist Sian Storey.

Feel inspired

Sian is continually inspired by the sheer beauty of nature and in particular birds. She was drawn to flamingos because of their recognisable postures and opulent colour. She also felt inspired by their symbolism of grace and vibrancy, and in this painting, she's surrounded the bird with beautiful water-like textures.

How it was created

‘Pink Lagoon’ was painted in Sian Storey’s studio in Hampshire, England in early Spring 2020. Using acrylics and spray paint, you'll see detailed, delicate brushwork, patterns, finished off with flashes of gold spray paint.

Sian paints in layers, as seen in the golden stencil technique of the background and rich acrylic paint of the flamingoes, reflections and water. The spray paint is used to diffuse edges and lines, creating a hazy, ethereal finish.
