One of a series of Hawthorn studies I've been working on over winter. Alongside the Oak and Birch, the Hawthorn holds a huge fascination. Steeped in folklore these iconic solitary landscape markers are sculpted from the elements and inspirational to paint. This particular tree can be found on Golden Cap in Dorset overlooking Lyme Bay.
