The radiance of scarlet in the petals of roses under the sun, the shimmer of leaves, the depth of shadow — all of this I wanted to convey in this work. It was painted with just a few pigments: emerald green and two reds. It was a challenging task to combine two opposite colors, where their junction creates new, interesting shades.
